A Yearly Student Planner

I create a student planner for my teenage daughter every year. This is what it contains:

Month calendars  (www.vertex42.com)

Year at a glance calendars (www.vertex42.com)

Student planning pages  (Print so that you can open up with the days on the left and the weekly goals page on the right.)

Time map (Blank / Example / wpd)  (I usually put a Fall time map filled out and a Winter one that is blank.)

1 year plan  (Blank / Example / wpd )

Year by month plan  (Blank / Example / wpd)

4 year plan (Blank / Example / wpd)

After I print it all out, I spiral bind it or you can put in a 3-ring binder. I prefer to spiral bind it so it stands out from all the other binders!  I also keep a copy of her time map, 1 year plan, 4 year plan and year by month plan in my binder.

Alternative Planning Method

My teenage son does not prefer to use planners.  Instead, we plan out the year together using these forms:

4 year plan (Blank / Example)

1 year plan  (Blank / Example)

Year by month plan  (Blank / Example)

Time map (Blank / Example)

I then put these forms in my binder and make a copy of the year plan, year by month plan and time map and post them on the student's desk.  Instead of a planner, he uses a big wall calendar and a notebook on a clipboard where he writes his to-do list for all his school work.  Each item on the list also has the due date written next to it so he can keep track of it all. He enjoys using a marker to cross off items he has completed.
