Tuition
Part of the vision of Scholar School is to make this kind of education low-cost. Where possible, the mentors volunteer their teaching time and the classes are held at a home. Thus the monthly cost is low. However, because a liberal arts education requires you to read a lot, we do have a lot of book costs. The good thing about books is that then you own them or you can resell them.
Each family is expected to get their own books for each class. It is highly preferable to buy the books we are reading. Families need to only get 1 copy of each book if siblings can share. You can use the library to get some of the books, however, this can be tricky as it is very important the student gets the book on time. Parents are responsible for having the books for their students in a timely manner for them to complete their assignments.
For 2009-2010, each 16 week semester tuition cost was $65 for all the classes.
For 2010-2011 - each semester tuition cost is estimated to be:
$80 for all the classes; $40 for siblings
$20-$35 for individual classes (TBA)
Note that these prices are for the entire semester, NOT month!
The money collected will go towards consumable supplies, service projects, and/or future teacher training.
